what is the difference between full metal alchemist and full metal alchemist brotherhood ?
Which one was the original first one that started the series?
Please answer both questions.
Short . . .
They are two different series, not two seasons
Long . . .
Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood are two different series.
Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) was written in the time that the manga was being released. After about 25 episodes, the show quickly caught up with the manga, but the creator of the manga, Hiromu Arakawa didn’t want fillers so they continued the show, making up a different storyline to the original. In FMA, the movie: Conqueror of Shamballa directly follows the anime and is the real end to the tale.
The OVAs are:
– Chibi Party
– Kids
– Liveaction
– Alchemists vs. Homunculi
– Reflections
After the manga was finished, they created a new anime (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, made in 2009), closely following the original storyline. They made the first fifteen episodes have a fast pace, with a lot going on in them, seeing as they had already been done in the first 25 episodes in FMA (2003), but after that the story changes dramatically.
You can watch the OVAs, but they’re not part of the actual story. They are:
– The Blind Alchemist
– Simple People
– The Chronicle of Teacher/Tales of the Master
– Yet Another Man’s Battlefield
There are new characters, and some other characters are taken away.
There is a whole new plot too
The intentions of the homunculus are different.
There are different main villains
I could go on . . . but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it.
There is also an upcoming movie out in 2012 in America, licensed by Funimation for FMA:B. It’s already out in Japan. The Sacred Star of Milos (movie title) is set during the time when Edward realized Alphonse’s human body existed somewhere, with the logic that that knowledge would encourage him to travel to another area to do research. It doesn’t really have any impact on the actual story.
